Hello,
For those of you who have subscribed to this newsletter for a while, you may recall back in 2021 that I changed the name and theme from a more history-focused newsletter to a more current events/current world conflicts focus.
I decided that this experiment has run its course, and am going back to the original focus on more historical topics, primarily around war and conflict, with occasional forays into more topical issues around the current state of the world.
All events in history are connected, and looking at these connections, especially in the realm of military conflict has always fascinated me. Nothing happens in a vacuum, and, just as many of the world’s current conflicts share connections, we also of course see this in past wars and conflicts. That interconnectedness will be a primary theme of this newsletter, going forward.
After this post, the name of this Substack will change from “State of the World,” to “Wars and Conflicts of the World by Historyguy.com.” My original venture into the world of online writing began in 1997 with my first website, Historyguy.com, which is still operating here in 2025. If we are going to look more into the past world, I might as well start with my own online publishing history.
I hope you choose to stay with this newsletter as we delve more into the past history of wars and conflicts of the world.
Thank you,
Roger Lee
State of the World/Wars and Conflicts of the World on Substack
Hello from Memphis. I enjoy your work and have told many about your channel. The state of our Nation and the possibility of war in the very near future is reason enough to focus on the past and see how it repeats itself. If Ukraine falls and the U.S. falls further into the darkness of the last few weeks, I fear conflicts will erupt all over the planet. The U.S. is far from perfect, that is for sure, but we are now going to see how bad it can be for us and the world. Larry J. Smith
